If
Andorra la Vella or
Escaldes-Engordany are the most lively and turbulent parishes of Andorra, Ordino is their tranquil and serene opposite, a haven of peace.
It has only five villages: Ansalonga, La Cortinada, Llorts, Sornàs and Ordino itself, one of the most important frontier points in the country until the growth of the Principality made it lose this function and become a clear example of what model town planning should be.
Ordino has reconstructed with remarkable authenticity the barns at Casa d'Areny de Plandolit, the parish church with the 12th century Virgin of Ordino, the Romanesque church of Saint Martin and the famous cave of Arans.
On a different note, the recent building of the National Auditorium is a clear example of the wish to preserve the village's musical tradition.
History, culture and nature combine in perfect harmony in the valley of Ordino: obvious examples are the Sorteny Nature Park, with 700 botanical species, 50 of which are unique in the Pyrenees, the Ordino-Arcalís snow resort, perfectly integrated into its environment, or the International Music Festivals.
